About

Thanks for dropping in on my blog! I don’t really have anything interesting to say. Nor am I particularly clever or insightful. I just saw a queue of people and a sign saying “Free Blogs.” “What the hell,” I said to myself, I like free stuff, so I got in line, made uncomfortable small talk, and got myself a blog.

Here you will find random ramblings about things I ramble about.

I also host flash fiction writing challenges.

Welcome! Settle in. Tea’s on. Hope you like Hob Nob biscuits and Coronation Street. Or maybe your thing is wine and horror movies. Either way, we’re going to get along just fine!

Some tidbits about me:

  • Grew up in a time without social media and the Internet (thankfully as there are  more than enough embarrassing pictures of me stored in tattered shoe boxes around the world).
  • Canadian-made.
  • Served John Ritter a coffee one time.
  • I have two awesome dogs, who I like more than most humans.
  • Communications professional by day; occasional writer by night; but mostly a Netflix watcher.

Hey, thanks for checking in! Book project is lame right now. I’ve been busy and the snow is finally gone and I want to do yard work! I also miss my prompts! I might do one this week!! Stay tuned! Thanks for the nomination! I need to get blogging again and this may be just what I need!

      How’s things with you?

Aww, well I hope it becomes un-lame when things get a little less hectic. 🙂
Your welcome! Award posts are great motivators for starting again because you already have a title, topic, and part of the content. 🙂 Besides that, they are just so fun!
Things are going good. I’m loving the weather, and oh yes, there is yard work to be done (though I live in the south U.S., so snow being gone is pretty much a all-year thing 😉 ).
I’ll be looking for that prompt!!!

Hi TiV! I miss your weekly flash fiction challenges – they were great fun. I wanted to let you know that I mentioned your blog in my Wednesday Whine post. Thanks for recommending ‘Sharp Objects’ to me. It was a very compelling novel.

I’m honoured!! And I totally agree about the challenge! I have met many great writers and folks since the start of my challenge journey! And like you, it has very much been a good exercise for my writing!

Hey Eilidh…This isn’t an award thing, I promise. But I wondered if you were interested in participating in a “writing process” blog tour. It’s an opportunity to share what you’re working on, how you work, etc. I was tagged by Michelle Terry of MamaMick site. This is her contribution: http://mamamickterry.com/2014/07/29/unpolished-and-earthy-blog-tour/

I need to tag three other bloggers who are willing to answer four questions about their writing process and tag three bloggers in return. I hope to get mine up this week. If you don’t have time or inclination, I completely understand. I enjoy your writing and would love to hear about your process. Thanks for considering! And I promise to get back to participating in the challenge. I’ve missed it. Just been so busy with work.

I’m touched that you would think of me!! Of course, I would be interested! Plus, it will introduce me to other great blogs I may be missing out on. I’m glad I found your blog!! I enjoy your writing, too. I’m also really loving Yeah Write, which I discovered through your blog! So, thanks!

Just let me know what I need to do.

      Eilidh

I’ve just discovered your blog by reading some flash fiction out there (that was really good, by the way!) and finding it started here. Great idea! I’ve never done flash fiction but this inspires me to look into it. Thanks!

This means a lot to me Kate! I started this challenge not knowing if anyone would participate and much to my surprise it’s building a great little community!

The interaction among all of you is terrific. I think each of us is enjoying the putting our work out there (scary) and getting feedback (even scarier) and loving it (yay).

Thanks for thinking of me Kate. I will get on it!

    Hello,
I saw your post in Support about the “Related Articles”; I had posted a similar support question… I have found the answer and would like to share with you. Go here: http://www.zemanta.com/download/ and download the app for your specific browser. Once installed (very easy)… your New Post screen in WordPress will look and function nearly identical to how it performed before… The only difference (and it is better) is that Zemanta inserts a picture along with the title of the Related Article. Enjoy!

ps. You can see the new Zemanta plug-in by visiting my most recent post @ http://cerkas.wordpress.com (The Inspired Verse).
