Thanks for dropping in on my blog! I don’t really have anything interesting to say. Nor am I particularly clever or insightful. I just saw a queue of people and a sign saying “Free Blogs.” “What the hell,” I said to myself, I like free stuff, so I got in line, made uncomfortable small talk, and got myself a blog.
Here you will find random ramblings about things I ramble about.
I also host flash fiction writing challenges.
- In 2014, I hosted the FFC52 that had participants write one 500 word story a week for 52 weeks! Check out the prompts and submissions!
- In 2017, I hosted the 13 Week Streak – Summer Flash Fiction Challenge. It was tons of fun. Check out the prompts and submissions.
Welcome! Settle in. Tea’s on. Hope you like Hob Nob biscuits and Coronation Street. Or maybe your thing is wine and horror movies. Either way, we’re going to get along just fine!
Some tidbits about me:
- Grew up in a time without social media and the Internet (thankfully as there areΒ more than enough embarrassing pictures of me stored in tattered shoe boxes around the world).
- Canadian-made.
- Served John Ritter a coffee one time.
- I have two awesome dogs, who I like more than most humans.
- Communications professional by day; occasional writer by night; but mostly a Netflix watcher.
I had to check out a blog named Thain in Vain. Visiting from A to Z, I will check out some of your posts.
Thanks for stopping by!! Looking forward to the challenge! Off to check out your blog!!
This is a great all about you page π
Thanks!
I like your blog! I like it a little extra just for the mention of HobNobs and tea. π
It’s a tasty combination! TiV
Just wanted to say hi, and I hope your book project is going well, and tell you that I nominated you for the Liebster Award. The rules are here https://invisibleworldd.wordpress.com/2015/04/11/liebster-award-wait-what-does-that-mean/
And while I’m at it, I guess I’ll say one more thing…I miss your flash fiction prompts! Ok, that’s it. I’m done bothering you now. π
Hey, thanks for checking in! Book project is lame right now. I’ve been busy and the snow is finally gone and I want to do yard work! I also miss my prompts! I might do one this week!! Stay tuned! Thanks for the nomination! I need to get blogging again and this may be just what I need!
How’s things with you?
Aww, well I hope it becomes un-lame when things get a little less hectic. π
Your welcome! Award posts are great motivators for starting again because you already have a title, topic, and part of the content. π Besides that, they are just so fun!
Things are going good. I’m loving the weather, and oh yes, there is yard work to be done (though I live in the south U.S., so snow being gone is pretty much a all-year thing π ).
I’ll be looking for that prompt!!!
Hi TiV! I miss your weekly flash fiction challenges – they were great fun. I wanted to let you know that I mentioned your blog in my Wednesday Whine post. Thanks for recommending ‘Sharp Objects’ to me. It was a very compelling novel.
I miss the interaction with everyone!! And thanks for mentioning my blog! I’m looking into piblishing a book of stories from the challenge with a few submissions from eveyone! Would you be interested!
And glad you liked “Sharp Objects.” Her other one “Dark Place” is also really good!
Hi TiV! I absolutely would be interested! Please keep me in the loop, okay?
I will definitely put ‘Dark Place’ on my list of books to read. π
I’m going to ask everyone to pick the best/favourite story they wrote during the flash fiction challenge and make sure it’s in good condition, e.g., free of typos, grammar is good, etc. How about you get started and send me your stories to thaininvain@gmail.com. Thoughts?
I’m going to reach out to everyone, but since I have you here!
TiV
Excellent. We’re to send you just one story, correct? (Just want to be clear π )
Send two or three — in good shape!
Will do so on Monday!
Hi, there! I just wanted to let you know that I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award π Here is the post: http://kaleiyahp.wordpress.com/2014/09/19/one-lovely-blog-award/ The Flash Fiction Challenge you’ve started has been a very good exercise for my writing, and has been a great way to build a community of writers within the blogging community.
I’m honoured!! And I totally agree about the challenge! I have met many great writers and folks since the start of my challenge journey! And like you, it has very much been a good exercise for my writing!
Hey Eilidh…This isnβt an award thing, I promise. But I wondered if you were interested in participating in a βwriting processβ blog tour. Itβs an opportunity to share what youβre working on, how you work, etc. I was tagged by Michelle Terry of MamaMick site. This is her contribution: http://mamamickterry.com/2014/07/29/unpolished-and-earthy-blog-tour/
I need to tag three other bloggers who are willing to answer four questions about their writing process and tag three bloggers in return. I hope to get mine up this week. If you donβt have time or inclination, I completely understand. I enjoy your writing and would love to hear about your process. Thanks for considering! And I promise to get back to participating in the challenge. I’ve missed it. Just been so busy with work.
I’m touched that you would think of me!! Of course, I would be interested! Plus, it will introduce me to other great blogs I may be missing out on. I’m glad I found your blog!! I enjoy your writing, too. I’m also really loving Yeah Write, which I discovered through your blog! So, thanks!
Just let me know what I need to do.
Eilidh
Yay! Thank you! I’m giving you my email address. Could you write to me so I’ll have yours? meg.galipault(at)gmail.com
Will do!!
Hi TiV, In appreciation of your blog, I’ve nominated you for several awards. Please check the link below for details. Also, please understand that acceptance of the nomination is purely voluntary. Congratulations!

I lost my blog yesterday and decided it was a good time to start a new one, but I have to start over. Hope you’ll re-follow so we can stay in touch! π
Mandy http://healingbeyondsurvival.wordpress.com/
Of course! Let me know when you are up and running!
I’m up and running, though just getting started again! Thank you! http://healingbeyondsurvival.wordpress.com/
I’ve just discovered your blog by reading some flash fiction out there (that was really good, by the way!) and finding it started here. Great idea! I’ve never done flash fiction but this inspires me to look into it. Thanks!
Thanks!! So, can we expect a story from you???
In time! π
We’ll wait, patiently!!
Hi there! Because of my appreciation of your blog and how you manage to get fellow writers scribbling away in answer to your prompts, I’ve nominated your blog for the Liebster Award. Please understand participation is purely voluntary. π
The link for details is here: http://kateloveton.wordpress.com/2014/05/11/the-dreaded-liebster-award-or-how-i-learned-to-stop-procrastinating-and-accept-this-damned-award/
This means a lot to me Kate! I started this challenge not knowing if anyone would participate and much to my surprise it’s building a great little community!
The interaction among all of you is terrific. I think each of us is enjoying the putting our work out there (scary) and getting feedback (even scarier) and loving it (yay).
Thanks for thinking of me Kate. I will get on it!
Eilidh
I am so happy you will participate!
Did you get my email re prompts?
I very much liked this and I like your blog. I will be back!
Thanks! I’m really having a good time with this blogging business!! Off to check out your blog! TiV
Me too! Thanks for following. I look forward to becoming friends in blog land. π
Sounds like a darn good plan!!!
Congratulations on your nomination for the Versatile Blogger Award!
Hello,
I saw your post in Support about the “Related Articles”; I had posted a similar support question… I have found the answer and would like to share with you. Go here: http://www.zemanta.com/download/ and download the app for your specific browser. Once installed (very easy)… your New Post screen in WordPress will look and function nearly identical to how it performed before… The only difference (and it is better) is that Zemanta inserts a picture along with the title of the Related Article. Enjoy!
ps. You can see the new Zemanta plug-in by visiting my most recent post @ http://cerkas.wordpress.com (The Inspired Verse).
Thanks so much for the information! I will give it a go! Much appreciated!
I’ll take a Hob Nob but skip on Corrie, thanks!
Done! And thanks for stopping in!!
