Bucket List Item #4: Publish a Book

The Book

It’s been awhile since we chatted! How are all of you? I’m doing good! Getting through a Canadian winter by chilling in my crib!

I’m here to talk books! In particular, our book. I’m working on a Kickstarter campaign to fund the publication of a book featuring submissions from the #FFC52 challenge. The funds raised will go to a professional publication of the book (includes internal design, cover design and editing). I want to go this route because I want a professional book (it may be my only book). Left to  my own devices, we would be looking at a pretty lame book.

I’m thinking of calling it “F is for Flash: A Collection of Flash Fiction and Writing Prompts.” But I’m not married to it. Any creative suggestions would be appreciated.

I’ll be marketing it as a two-in-one book: a collection of flash fiction stories from all you awesome writers and a year’s worth of inspirational writing prompts.

You Guys!

If you are interested in having one or two of your stories published in the collection, let me know. Then you can send your stories to me (well-edited), along  with a short blurb your story (e.g., inspiration, reason for naming the characters, life experience, etc) that connects you to your readers and a short bio. You can send stories to: thaininvain@gmail.com.

I think this is an exciting opportunity for all of us!

Stay tuned for the Kickstarter campaign in the next week or so! Just working on a video for it (myself on video=painful).

Are we still doing this? I never saw this post (been out of it for a while). My stories are totally up for grabs, some editing, and cover art as well! Even if it’s just something for us!

Is there a word count limit on the stories we submit? All the ones I’m looking at are 1,000 and over (none come to 2,000 though). All my good stories are long. 😦

I thought I commented on this, but I would love to be a part of it. Is your email on here? I didn’t really look, but if you let me know where to find it I will send you an email with my favorites. Also, let me know if I can help! 🙂

Oooh, I am so exited about this!! 🙂

I am going to take a few days to think over which story I’ll submit and then work on making sure that it’s a publishable standard (i.e. No glaring typos etc.)

I’ll email you in a few days once I’ve made my choice, but you can definitely count me in for being part of the process! 🙂

Nothing wrong with self-publishing. And getting others to join in is excellent!
I managed to get a few short stories published by other publishers before striking out on my own. Not much money, but the enjoyment of being published and knowing others liked it too? – priceless.
    Hope it all goes well.
