Just got back from an amazing trip to Rome. The one in Italy!
Highlights
The Pantheon
Puts time in perspective. This first well preserved first church to the gods has been standing since 27 BC – 14 AD. Kinda mind boggling, since we consider houses built in the 1950s old. The beauty and artistry of the building certainly doesn’t disappoint either.
The Vatican
Simply blown away by St. Peter’s Basilica.’Nuf said.
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most amazing things known to mankind — and to me. Seeing it in person and standing in the chapel where Michelangelo did the work is a moving experience. Art is my religion.
I also learned an interesting tidbit about the famous fresco: In Last Judgement, Michelangelo painted the features of Biagio da Cesena, the Pope’s Master of Ceremonies, in the character of Minos, one of the judges of Hell, because Cesena had insulted Michelangelo’s work by saying it was worthy for a bathroom or a tavern. He also added a serpent biting is wang (Giggle). Now this is the ultimate way to get even — makes Twitter seems like nothing more than writing trash talk on a lone bathroom wall.
Castel Sant’Angelo
I really enjoyed wandering around this castle. Also, it was featured in the movie “Angels and Demons.”
Cat Sanctuary
Kitties have the run of an ancient Roman ruin in a bustling area of Rome. Pretty darn cool! There’s kitties in there somewhere!

I know, I’m super lame!! Going to aim for the latter half of the alphabet! Thanks for dropping by!!
“A long tomb ago.” hahaha. Loved that. Also Michaelangelo’s revenge. When I went to Venice a long time ago, I was in awe at doorknobs that were hundreds of years old.
The View from the Top of the Ladder
I know! Old stuff there is awesome!
Wow, how gorgeous!

St. Peter’s toes are so worn out – was so impressed when I visited but unfortunately am not a fan of Italian food.
