It happened
Quicker than a dream scatters
A glimpse of a dark face
Foreign and familiar
Burn of the long kiss
A hiss
Haunted by infinite memories
Of an invasion
Again
Dark face
Again
I retreat to that time
Before I stayed
My very first Gargleblaster in response to Yeah Write’s weekly prompt: “Should I Stay or Should I Go.”
“Quicker than a dream scatters.” My favorite line!
Yay! So sorry I didn’t get to read this until now…been an insane week. I love this piece. It is so very moody and evocative, and a stellar first Gargleblaster. Really glad you’re participating. Well done, my friend.
Gosh, thanks!! I’m glad I finally figured out how to submit! I feel shame! Anyway, off to write my next gargleblaster!
I’ll add my voice to the chorus: “quicker than a dream scatters” is a divine line! The whole piece is beautiful. I’m reading it out loud. Again.
Thanks! It was a blast to write!
“Burn of the long kiss.” Such a great line.
Thanks! I can hardly wait to write the next one!
I agree with the others, this is a tense/creepy/scary scene you’ve put in my mind — but that’s how powerful your words are! Great job on your first gargleblaster.
Thanks!! I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed writing a gargleblaster!! I can hardly wait for the next one!
“That time before I stayed…haunting…
Thanks! I was trying to create sense of regret! Thanks for reading! TiV
I really like how you develop an unsettling atmosphere around a scene that’s never explained –
“Burn of the long kiss
A hiss”
Thanks!! It was my first–Gargleblaster not kiss!!
Great first gargleblaster, sheesh! I echo MMT’s comment: loved that line “Quicker than a dream scatters.”
Thanks!! I can biting at the Gargleblaster to get started on the next fun!!
Loved this! You captured a mood and it became mine as I read each sentence. “Quicker than a dream scatters” was my favorite line. Bravo!
Thanks!!!! It was super fun to write!!!
I saw that this was your first? Really great!
I’ve become somewhat addicted to the format. In fact, I’ve noticed that the posts on my traditional blog are getting shorter and hopefully, more impactful. The Gargleblast is great practice for that. There are some great ones this week!
I can see the appeal!! And I’m making my way through the submissions and there really is some great stuff!!
Quicker than a dream scatters. Love your words.
Thanks!! I really enjoyed writing this! Can’t wait for next week!
That’s a good one ..keep on writing! All the best!
Thanks! Totally enjoyed this!
Love it! Awesome to read your poetry! Btw, will have a story done in the morning for last weeks ff52!
Thanks! An sounds good! I’m going to publish this morning, but will get you up as soon as you submit!
TiV
Great closing line.
You gargle and blast quite well! 😀 I didn’t know you wrote poetry. This is kind of creepy in a good way! I liked it!
It was fun! Have you done one yet? If not, you totally should!
Maybe I will one day! Right now, I’m struggling to keep up with the prompts that I am participating in. But I loved your take!
